Arts of the Islamic world: The early period – Smarthistory

The reason I think this art work is interesting is all the tiny details in the art work. It had a very complex design. I think the purpose of this design was to be fancy and royal for the royalty. It signifies a connection of the different styles those being Coptic, Sasanian, and Byzantine. On top of that it is very unique because in the time period after it was made they made a bunch of murals that was in a different style.

  1. Hey! I really enjoyed this post about how detailed Islamic culture was when it came to their art. It was also very interesting to learn that they used other techniques and styles to bring together their ideal style of Islamic art. It is crazy to see such magnificent architecture and style throughout this period, and it always seems to be filled with such color, which I enjoy seeing!

I really enjoy this style of art and I'm glad you decided to pick this piece. It was nice that you were straight to the point with your information, it made it really easy to pick out the important parts. One question you could think about is if there are any other pieces that you could compare this one to?
