For this post we are going to be talking about the types of columns used in ancient greek. Now I'm sure we all had seen Greek architecture at some point whether in movies like the movie Hercules, or in Video games like Immortal Fenyx rising. Has seen in the games the type of buildings they would build ranged from Temples to theaters they built a lot of different architecture for their buildings. The one thing all the buildings usually had in common were columns. There are multiple types of pillars they use, and they are separated into different orders, Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian, they were all named in the time of the romans.                    Now we all know that the Greek had a preference for marble, at least for public buildings.                                 Arts of the Islamic world: The early period – Smarthistory            The reason I think this art work is interesting is all the tiny details in the art work. It had a very complex design. I think the purpose of this design was to be fancy and royal for the royalty. It signifies a connection of the different styles those being  Coptic, Sasanian, and Byzantine. On top of that it is very unique because in the time period after it was made they made a bunch of murals that was in a different style.

The piece of art I picked was a rather well know art piece Myron Discobolus or disc thrower. The statue is a statue in the pose ready to swing his disc in a competition. The details for his muscles in his chest and arms. Not to mention the realism with his pose it feels like its in action frozen in time.  I think its really interesting art piece because of how much detail was given to it. I wish i knew if like Myron was a disc thrower champion or something but i don't actually know it would be rather interesting to know.

Contemporary view of Knossos looking southwest from the Monumental North Entrance (photo:  Theofanis Ampatzidis , German, Dr. Senta, and Dr. Senta German. “Restoration versus Conservation: The Palace at Knossos (Crete).” Smarthistory , smarthistory.org/ancient-mediterranean/the-palace-at-knossos-crete/.          This is a picture of a Knossos from an angle. You can see the way it was constructed using bricks. How over time it has been falling apart. Yet the column are standing tall and proud still. The over hang that is being held up by the columns is also looking pretty well after the years. There seems t be some sort of picture in the background behind the columns. The light blue contrast with the dark red on it making a nice image. Knossos in general seems to use a lot of red in its colors. You can see more red in the background with the rest of the buildings in the back. A lot of the  building is square and blocky. You can see it in the back...
